  Robert C. Layman, O.D.

  Dr. Robert Layman is a Toledo native who graduated from the University of Toledo and The Ohio State University College of Optometry. 

  He is the recipient of the 2006 American Optometric Association “Optometrist of the Year Award.” The Ohio Optometric Association honored him with its Outstanding Senior Student Award in 1982, its Young Optometrist of the Year Award in 1987, and its Optometrist of the Year Award in 2005. He also received the TLC Dennis Kennedy, O.D. Excellence in Eye Care Award for 2005 and 2006. 

  He is a past president of the Toledo Area Optometric Society, the Ohio Optometric Association, the Toledo Jaycees, and the Kiwanis Club of West Toledo. He is a vision consultant for the University of Toledo Athletic Department. 

  His volunteer activities include: Boy Scout Troop 87 Assistant Scout Master, The Francis Family YMCA Board of Managers, and the American, Ohio, and Toledo Optometric Associations. 

  Dr. Layman is married and has four children. He enjoys family travel, running, snow skiing, and motorsports.

  James D. Hardie, O.D.

  Dr. James Hardie is originally from Ironwood, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Michigan State University. He graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Ohio State University in 2010. 

  Dr. Hardie was the recipient of the Ohio State University College of Optometry’s Graduate of the Year award and the Vision Service Plan Nexus award for ophthalmic dispensing. 

  He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, the Toledo Area Optometric Association, the Michigan Optometric Association, the Bedford Business Association, and the Bedford Lions Club. 

  Dr. Hardie and his wife, Holly, reside in Bedford Township. His interests include sports, travel, and community involvement.

  Debbie

  Debbie joined our practice in 2007, after 18 years in the dental field. You will find her scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and serving as a patient insurance advocate. Debbie is the proud mom of two great kids, Daniel and Ashley. She is also “mom” to a dog, four cats and two Arabian horses. Her best friend is her husband Ray and she is happiest when she is with the ones she loves.

  Kate

  Kate has been our Patient Care Coordinator since 2005. A typical day for her consists of greeting our patients, scheduling appointments, gathering insurance information, and verifying eligibility. She diligently manages our recalls, ensuring that you receive those friendly reminders that it is time to come see us. In her free time, Kate enjoys relaxing with her husband and son, riding her horse, gardening, and camping.

  Michelle

  Michelle is a Certified Optical Dispenser and has her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. Since joining the Pinnacle Eye Group team January 2010, she has enjoyed interacting and educating patients about the importance of preventative eye care. Her specialties include clerical and clinical medical assisting, as well as, medical writing. She looks forward to time with her family, travel and learning.

  Sandy

  Sandy joined our practice in 1996 as a front desk receptionist. She is now involved in all aspects of the practice administration. Sandy is married with two children. Her son Bill is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and married to Stacy. Her daughter Kelly is a graduate of the University of Toledo. Sandy and her husband Dan enjoy going to Detroit Tiger games.

  Sharon

  Sharon joined our practice in 1995. After 27 years in banking, she chose a new career as an Insurance Billing Specialist. Her excellent managerial background allowed her to capably assume bookkeeping, payroll, and human resources. Sharon and her husband Ed have one married son and a grand-dog named Casey. For pleasure, she enjoys yard work, reading mysteries, and visiting their cabin in Altanta, Michigan.

  Julie

  Julie joined us as a pretester in 2007 and is now an apprentice optician. Her day may include greeting patients, pretesting, or assisting with eyewear design and custom lens selection, and she is committed to providing a comfortable and educational experience. She and her husband Larry live in Temperance, MI. Julie is a proud mother of two children, Chad and Emily. She enjoys being with her family and friends, cooking, sports and gardening.

  Judy

  Judy is an ABO certified optician with 29+ years of optical experience. Judy joined us in 1990 and specialized in frame styling, buying, and dispensing. Her discriminating taste in eyewear is showcased by her displays in our gallery, while her years of experience have given her unsurpassed knowledge of frames and lenses. Judy spends free time traveling or boating. Judy has a radiant smile, a catchy laugh and a quest to delight all patients.

  Amber

  Amber has over 18 years of optical experience and is a Licensed Ohio Dispensing Optician. She joined our practice in 2010. Her responsibilities include ordering of lenses, lab work and final inspecting of all eyeglasses. Amber is a happily married mother of two beautiful daughters. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family doing many outdoor activities.

  Molly

  Molly joined the Pinnacle Eye Group staff in January of 2012. Her position is an ophthalmic technician. She enjoys this position because it allows her to interact with patients. It is important to her to make sure each patient has a fun and enjoyable experience. Outside of work, Molly likes spending time with her wonderful husband and four amazing children. Together they enjoy camping, having movie nights, and making clay ornaments.

  Tess

  Tess has been a state licensed optician since 1998. She enjoys getting to know patients and educating them about eyewear options. Tess is married and has two daughters with one more on the way, due in January 2013. She enjoys fossil hunting and day trips with the girls and her husband.

  Laurie

  Laurie joined our practice in 2011 after working in the educational field for almost 6 years. She has her Bachelor's degree in Elementary education from Eastern Michigan University and is currently working on her Master's degree in Reading. Laurie's day consists of scheduling appointments, greeting and assisting patients with their paperwork, and confirming appointments. In her spare time, Laurie enjoys being with her family and friends as well as spending a nice day out on the golf course.

  Amy

  Amy is originally from Massillon, Ohio. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Bowling Green State University. Amy is married to Randy and together they have 3 children, Samantha, Benjamin, and Rachel. Amy has held many volunteer positions over the years and currently serves as treasurer for Borderline Volleyball Club. In her spare time, Amy enjoys her childrens sporting events and traveling.

  Kim

  Kim joined our practice in 2012 and assists in coordinating patient care as an ophthalmic technician. Kim enjoys riding her Arabian horses, playing with her dogs, camping and swimming, as well as the great outdoors with family and friends.

  Kristi

  Kristi has been with the Pinnacle Eye Group for several years working part time while attending school. She specializes in medical scribing and pre-testing patients. Kristi enjoys traveling running and spending her free time with friends and family.
